Our Communications Group meets on a regular basis and acts as the editorial panel for our bi-monthly newsletter, NM News, which is distributed to all properties with the area. NM News is written by local residents, for local residents, providing invaluable information about local initiatives, events, and opportunities.
In 2003 29% of people were aware of NM, in 2004 this had increased to 48%, with 63% of people feeling that the scheme is making a difference in the area, (15% did not know or didn't reply). We believe that this was partly down to the employment of a PR company to promote positive stories of NM and the area within the local press, TV and radio, and partly down to the publication of NM News.
During year 3, the Communications Group have also managed the publication of the NM Directory which has been distributed to all local residents, and is a handy guide to the important contact information you need for local services, advice lines, leisure pursuits, places of worship and much more, within the NM area.
However, on entering year 4 our focus for PR has now changed moved towards marketing the NM area for it’s attributes with the intention that is can once again be seen as a tourist resort. The first set towards this is the publication of a ‘tourist’ Brochure, funded solely by sponsorship received from local companies and businesses, which will be available to all local hoteliers and will be distributed to tourist information centres around Dorset.
