Outcome area - Community Safety
The police led Community Safety Action Group has met regularly through the year and began discussions on a Service Level Agreement. In addition to the ongoing work to reduce crime rates, priorities of the group include:
- Anti-social behaviour (including public drinking and prostitution)
- CCTV
- Public Reassurance
- Alcohol Related Crime
- Domestic Violence
Work has begun to agree a strategy on tackling street prostitution and a multi agency group began to examine how best to reduce the problem of street prostitution.
We are pleased to note that, dwelling burglary have gone down 13% from 2002/3 to 2003/4 and 14% from 2003/4 to 2004/5, vehicle crime went down 16% from 2002/3 to 2003/4 and 17% from 2003/4 to 2004/5 and robbery offences went down 33% from 2003/4 to 2004/5
During year 4 we expect to see and will work towards further reductions of at least 5% in the following crimes - burglaries, robbery, vehicle crime and violent crime.
A pooled budget from NM, Police, Fire and Council, now exists to remove communal vehicles.
